Public Health PhD students must complete a minimum requirement of 56 units of graduate coursework for the PhD degree, as well as specific program milestones such as the Qualifying Exam, Dissertation Proposal, and Dissertation Defense. While time to completion of the degree will vary, our expectation is that our students will complete the majority of their course work by the end of their second year, pass their Qualifying Exam by the middle of the third year, pass their Dissertation Proposal Defense by the middle of the fourth year, and defend their dissertation at the end of their fifth year of study.
