Professor Sidra Goldman-Mellor Featured in Article Related to the Lindsay Clancy Trial
Associate Professor of Public Health Sidra Goldman-Mellor was recently featured in The 19th News in an article examining postpartum psychosis, the challenges of treating the condition, and the need for greater research and funding. Goldman-Mellor, whose research has examined mental health, substance use, and suicidal behavior among pregnant and postpartum women, discussed potential gaps in monitoring and follow-up care for people receiving treatment.
She also highlighted the importance of establishing clearer diagnostic categories and improving data collection, noting that better tracking of cases across factors such as race, socioeconomic status, and geographic region can help researchers better understand postpartum psychosis and improve care.
“If we can’t easily track it, then we can’t easily do research on it,” Goldman-Mellor said. “Research is how we change things.”
