Cannabis Use Disorder and Suicidal Ideation in the United States: Persistant Risk and Stable Trends, 2014-2023

UC Merced faculty, Alec Chan-Golston, Sandie Ha, Sidra Goldmna-Mellor and Public Health graduate student Tosin Oyetunji found that U.S. adults with cannabis addiction have consistently higher risk of suicidal ideation — but, surprisingly, the magnitude of this elevated risk hasn't changed over the past 10 years, despite increasing potency of cannabis products during that time.
