UC Merced graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and faculty attended the American Public Health Association’s Annual Meeting and Expo — the largest annual gathering of public health professionals with more than 12,0000 in attendance — held in Philadelphia earlier this month.

Graduate students Emanuel Alcala, Jazmine Kenny, Tashelle Wright and Harmanpreet Chauhan, postdoctoral fellow Deepti Chittamuru, and Public Health faculty Mariaelena Gonzalez, Karina Diaz Rios and Maria-Elena Young presented at the conference. Topics included oral health inequities, immigrants’ health, early childhood caries in rural California, health needs of the san Joaquin Valley Sikh community and food security needs of college students.
