The Public Health Wargame is a simulation exercise where participants respond to a hypothetical public health crisis, in this case, a food poisoning outbreak at the UC Merced Pavilion! The goal is to test decision-making, identify weaknesses in response plans, and improve crisis strategies. This Public Health Wargame, set at the University of California, Merced, is inspired by real events. Students from the Honors section of the “Dungeons & Dragons Skills IRL?” Spark course (SPRK 001H) and our public health program under the guidance of Prof. John Bultena developed this activity using a 2d6 system.
A special thank you to Professor John Bultena, Niove Aragon, Eve Jordan, and the Honors section students for planning the event and creating this game, as well as all those who contributed to bringing this project to life for UC Merced’s Public Health Week 2025.
