Dr. Belt holds an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Medical Sociology and Social Epidemiology from the University of Iowa. Her research focuses on quantifying the legacy of structural harm and its impact on health, technology, and higher education curricula. She employs a Du Boisian mixed-methods approach, emphasizing community engagement and innovative, interactive visualizations. In this talk, she will explore how sundown towns—racially exclusive communities—serve as a novel measure for linking structural racism to health outcomes.
