Bio: 
Albert Aguilera, PhD, is a lecturer in Public Health for the University of California, Merced. Dr. Aguilera’s research emphasis focuses on the intersection of public health and nutrition, along with specialized training and proficiency in nutritional assessment and data analysis pertaining to community-level interventions. Dr. Aguilera, a bilingual/bicultural native of Mexico, directs research efforts toward examining predictors and assessing food consumption and health behaviors within underserved populations. Dr. Aguilera conducted innovative investigations, employing gender, language, culture, regional location, and ethnic identity as analytical frameworks for grassroots nutritional and public health issues affecting positive behavioral change among underserved Latina/o communities. Previous research initiatives concentrated on combatting nutrition and obesity issues within the Mexican-heritage population residing in California. Dr. Aguilera also was highly involved in the development of a culturally tailored nutritional curriculum for Mexican-heritage populations, publicly accessible through the University of California, Cooperative Extension.
