Bio: 
Mamata is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Public Health at the University of California, Merced working under the supervision of Dr. Karina Díaz Rios. She completed her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from the Institute of Medicine (IOM), TU, Nepal. Back in her home country, she gained her clinical experience by working as a General Physician at Nature Care hospital for 3 years during which she provided preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare to the patients. During her medical school, she had the opportunity to collaborate with her senior colleague researcher in a project titled “Depression in Diabetes” which gave her the opportunity to gain fieldwork experience of data collection and interview taking strategies as well as to understand research methodology which later motivated her to work on Governmental Research Project in Nepal, under National Health Research Council (NHRC) as a Research Supervisor. Mamata’s research interests include nutrition, ma¬ternal-child health, infectious disease, chronic disease, epidemiology, and health disparities.
