Public Health Grad Students Present Posters

Last week graduate students in Professor Burke’s Health Equity Research group spent four days in Philadelphia at the Society for Applied Anthropology meetings. Three second-year students presented their thesis papers during the conference’s poster session. Tashelle Wright’s poster was titled, "Understanding the Lived Experiences of Caregivers in Rural California: A Qualitative Study.”

Jazmine Kenny’s poster was titled, “How Healthcare Institutions and Providers Cultivate or Undermine Patient Engagement to Increase Timely Follow Up for Abnormal Mammogram Results.” And Andrea Lopez’s poster was titled, “Exploring How Immigration Policy Impacts the Health and Well-Being of Children in a Rural Setting from the Perspectives of Those Serving Them.” Students also attended panels relating to their research and explored the city.
